Complexity Science Hub Vienna

Project Partner

The Complexity Science Hub Vienna (CSH) is a young research institute dedicated to the advancement of complex systems science through the pursuit of basic research and educational excellence. The CSH is a joint initiative of AIT, IIASA, Medical University of Vienna, TU Graz, TU Wien, and Vienna University of Economics and Business, and is financially supported by the City of Vienna.

University of Innsbruck

Project Partner

The Security and Privacy Lab at the Department of Computer Science, University of Innsbruck, specializes in digital forensics, virtual currencies, and cybercrime. Internationally renowned, the lab plays a leading role in Europe in studying phenomena related to cryptoassets.

Austrian Institute of Technology GmbH

Project Partner

The Austrian Institute of Technology (AIT) is the largest research company in Austria. The AIT Competence Center for Digital Safety and Security is a high-tech organization for applied research in the security sector.

IKNAIO Cryptoasset Analytics GmbH

Business Partner

Iknaio, established in 2021 as a Complexity Science Hub Vienna spin-off, offers services for analyzing cryptocurrency transaction flows in systems such as Bitcoin or Ethereum for its customers. These services are based on open source cryptocurrency analytics platform GraphSense developed by researchers over the past six years.

Ministry of the Interior

The Austrian Federal Ministry of the Interior (BMI) is responsible for safeguarding the internal security of Austria. It covers a broad range of tasks relevant to internal security, reaching far beyond the core security tasks of police matters.

Federal Ministry of Finance

The Federal Ministry of Finance, Department IV/3, acts as the central authority for addressing all forms of customs and tax fraud, specializing in international information exchange between the customs and tax authorities of member states. Furthermore, the anti-fraud department serves as the designated partner and interface for managing money laundering concerns within the ministry, other departments, and national institutions in Austria.

Ministry of Justice

The Federal Ministry of Justice oversees the management of all criminal proceedings in Austria, providing official and technical supervision to public prosecutors. The Legal Informatics Department supports public prosecutor's offices and courts nationwide. Additionally, specialized cybercrime competence centers have been established in Vienna, Graz, Linz, Salzburg, and Innsbruck to assist and, in some instances, independently conduct cybercrime procedures.
